About Us

Why did I start Four Paws Havanese?

I started Four Paws Havanese because, when I was looking for breeders to adopt my first Havanese I had many negative experiences with breeders. Many would stop responding to me after I asked basic questions about their program or their dogs. Others never got back to me after I filled out their long questionnaires. It is was also a common practice to promote dog foods and supplements because the breeders received payments. I wanted to become the breeder that I never got to purchase a puppy from. An honest breeder that would be open to puppy families and always would do the right thing.

About Me

Much of my childhood was spent looking online and through books dreaming of my future dog. I spent countless hours reaching what kind of dog I wanted and put a lot of thought into it. When looking at the many different breeds, none of them felt right and none fit my lifestyle. When I came across the Havanese, it was love at first sight. They had the perfect personality, and intelligent nature, that I was looking for. I waited almost 2 years to bring Ellie home. She has been a constant companion ever since, always within petting distance. She changed my life for the better and has brought so much love to my family and I.

Why Four Paws Havanese?

Health Tested Parents for Healthy Happy Puppies

We only breed healthy purebred dogs that have passed all of the health tests that are recommended by the AKC and Havanese Club of America and that have been DNA tested and cleared. We also only breed dogs that have temperaments that conform to the AKC breed standard. This helps ensure that our puppies have only the best temperaments and are less prone to developing behavior problems later in life. Our goal as a breeder is always to improve the breed and to produce healthy and happy puppies.

Small In-Home Breeder

We provide you with a puppy that has been raised in a home not a kennel and has been given the individual attention that a large scale breeder can not provide.  I have watched these puppies grow up from birth and I have built a bond with each and every one of them. Your puppy has been loved, nurtured, and taken care of from the moment they are born. I fall in love with each and every puppy I raise and only want the best for them.

Solid Training Foundation

Training is often the hardest part about raising a puppy and oftentimes the reason why so many dogs are surrendered to shelters. I wanted to give my puppies a foundation of training that many other breeders did not offer. All of our puppies begin potty training at 4 weeks and crate training at 6 weeks. We also start training them sit, down, and come. This gives you a valuable head start in training and solid training foundation that you can easily build on.
